Tyldesley Swimming and Water Polo Club held its 35th Annual Mini Gala before honoured guests: Khalid Jhugroo (former
World Championship swimmer and Club Captain) and Mrs Mavis Bent President of Tyldesley S&WPC. Club members were divided into two age groups 10 years/under and 8 years/under with many of the youngsters
enjoying their first taste of competitive swimming. All swimmers were able to
demonstrate their skills to family and friends in backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle over 25 m with the older age group
also participating in the 25m butterfly.
Eleanor Bailey scored maximum points in the 8/under girls to collect the top girl award setting a new record of 17.57s
in the heats of the 25 m freestyle – a record that had stood for 30 years. Eleanor
was pushed all the way though by Jessica Sloan who collected 12 pts. Joint 3rd
place went to Robyn McLean and Grace Rowlands on 5pts.
Jaeger Turner scored maximum points in the 10/under girls to collect the top girl award.
2nd and 3rd places went to Grace Morley on 12 pts and Leah Statham on 10 pts.
Liam Bent scored 10 points in the 8/under boys age group to collect the top boy award. 2nd place went to Matthew Haslam who scored 8 pts. Disappointingly there were no other competitors in this age group.

in last year’s 8/under age group scored maximum points in the 10/under boys to collect the top boy award. 2nd place went to Adam Gillespie on 12 pts and joint third were James Chadwick and Patrick Rowland
on 10 pts.
