In
2008 Tyldesley Swimming and Water Polo club became the first club in the North West to achieve Swim 21 Water Polo Teaching
accreditation.
The
Junior polo section is divided into three groups:
Group 1 concentrate on the basic water polo skills: head-up front crawl, head-up backstroke,
eggbeater, picking up the ball, swimming with the ball, long walking, long sculling, passing & catching and shooting.
Group 2 further develop the basic skills and learn the core water polo skills including:
slope and tilt position, stopping and starting, changing direction, short walking & short sculling, active blocking, jumping,
jump half turn, spider, goalkeeping.
Group 3 further develop the basic and core skills and learn tactical skills eg setting
up the arc, man up etc.
